Monterey Peninsula, California

The Monterey Peninsula is located south of San Francisco in Central California. Home of California’s historic first capital, the area boasts a unique cultural mix set in a breathtaking coastal environment.

Several flags have flown over Monterey: those of Spain, Mexico, the California Republic and the United States. The area was even briefly claimed for Argentina in 1816.

Free-time activities include whale-watching, golf, tennis, horseback riding, sea kayaking, hiking on countless scenic trails, touring the historic Monterey Adobes and a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Local wineries can also be visited for a memorable tasting experience.
